Known as ‘Silver Emma’ for the colour of her two Olympic Medals Emma Johansson has been riding bikes since childhood. As part of the Explore New Grounds project she headed to Trysil in Norway with her e-MTB.
Trysil is Norway’s biggest ski resort but when the snow departs the mountain bikers arrive to enjoy a hundred kilometres of natural trails and purpose built single track. It’s a great resort for challenging your skills on the purpose built training area and also heading out in to the extensive network of natural trails.
Exploring new grounds conjures up images of untouched wilderness and being the first explorer to pedal a new landscape but it doesn’t just mean this, we all have new grounds to discover, both closer to home and within our own riding. An e-MTB helps you to extend your horizons and ride further than before, it can help you reach the top of the mountain by bike instead of cable car and with the extra power it can help you tackle fresh technical challenges.
Emma Johansson’s route takes us to Trysil, the perfect place to ride your e-MTB. Her route gives a flavour of the whole area, which offers a mix of purpose built and natural trails. Starting with some gentle climbing Johansson shares her favourite spot in the woods, where she recommends relaxing with a coffee and absorbing the woodland atmosphere before tackling the Magic Moose, a 7.5km flow trail with a whole host of trail features, rock gardens, berms and north shore style board sections, all designed to fit together in a way that helps you find your flow and leaves you grinning at the bottom.
Johansson’s route balances the fun of the trail park and the challenge of natural trails, giving you the chance to experience a wide variety of terrain and helping to develop and hone your skills and stretch your e-MTB comfort zone.
