Meet the STEPS Team: Megan Duehring

Megan Duehring is the Shimano Marketing and Event Specialist - her job entails assisting the drivers with event planning, advocating for traditional and electric bikes, and supporting Shimano STEPS through key events around North America.

The Shimano STEPS demo team is made up of Megan plus three drivers covering all of the North America. The team will be traveling throuhgout North America to key events so consumers can test ride both our Shimano STEPS E-MTB and E-City electric bike systems.

We sat down with Megan for a little Q&A to learn more about her.

Where are you from, where are you based out of?

  • I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA and didn’t make it too far as I now live in Aliso Viejo, CA.

How did you get started in the bike industry and when?

  • I come from a long line of cycling enthusiasts so coming into the cycling industry was a natural thing for me. I was fortunate to work alongside my dad for some time at Felt Bicycles from 2013-June 2018

What do you like about being apart of the STEPS demo driver?

  • I love being able to assist them at events when I can. Speaking with consumers and sharing my love for bikes is a hard thing to beat.

What is the weirdest thing you’ve seen out on the trail?

  • I haven’t seen a lot of weird things, but seeing people riding around with no helmet on lights me up. Wear your helmet!

Favorite Place to Ride?

  • I have a lot…I learned to ride in Auburn, California so I have a soft spot for those trails. My home trails in Laguna are awesome, Whistler is all time, North Van is epic, there are too many to name.

Favorite Food?

  • Mexican.

Favorite place to ride a SHIMANO STEPS city bike? To work, beats the traffic and I don’t have to wear a chamois!

  • How do you like your coffee? With lots of creamer.

Favorite Disney movie?

  • Pocahontas, I have Cherokee descent and as a kid I was obsessed. I had the sheets, lunch box, moccasins, everything.

Favorite Breakfast Cereal?

  • CT Crunch all day.

Childhood nickname?

  • Megs, Meggers, Meggy, so many options.

What are three things that are still on your lifetime bucket list?

  • Race a BME, take my dad to a world series baseball game, and get to play with a liter of golden retrievers.

Cats or dogs?

  • Dogs.

Favorite Dessert food?

  • Froyo, icecream, gelato, all that.

Podcasts or music?

  • Tough question, I like learning new things from podcasts but also find myself being the embarrassing girl you catch screaming songs in the car next to you at a red light.

Favorite candy?

  • I rarely eat candy but if I do Reeses takes the cake.
