Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship

Team Shimano joined the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship for a weekend in Downieville, CA to explore local trails and promote e-MTB advocacy.

Nestled in-between Plumas National Forest and Tahoe National Forest, Downieville is paradise for mountain bikers everywhere. The Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship (SBTS) finds their home here in conjunction with the Yuba Bike shop, stoking people out daily and keeping the trails in the area maintained and in prime condition.

When SBTS reached out to the Shimano STEPS team to attend an e-bike mapping event, we were thrilled. Three days in the Sierras is something you’d have to be crazy to turn down. What began as a work trip ended up being an unforgettable experience and something we felt lucky to be a part of. Riding and chatting with a group of like-minded individuals who see the power of these bikes and how they can bring new perspectives to their home was almost overwhelming. An already magical place like Downieville becomes even more epic when the power of STEPS is added to the mix.

Covering over 60 miles in two days with more than 10,000ft of climbing, the team was able to ride forgotten trails and experience views that would normally take twice as long to reach.

Traveling further and deeper into the mountains sparked the idea of guided tours to these beautiful places via e-bike with the Yuba Expeditions team. There is a lot to be excited about in Downieville and we’re looking forward to continuing our partnership with SBTS and watching our dreams come to fruition.

Thank you to our friends at Sierra Buttes for bringing us together for an unforgettable week.
